Fresh food. Trusted schools. Nourished Kids.

Each week during the school year, The One Box provides families experiencing hardship with a box of quality fresh fruit and vegetables, delivered through trusted school communities.

Schools identify families who would benefit from support and manage distribution within their community, creating a discreet and familiar way for families to access fresh food and broader supports.

Families are nourished and connected

Kids come to school nourished and ready to learn. Regular pickups provide points of connection to build relationships of trust with families and where appropriate, connect them with broader services and support.

Why schools?

Schools are trusted parts of their communities and deeply understand the families they support. Everyday they see the children who are stressed in class due to hunger.

Weekly collection provides a familiar and discreet way to access fresh food, while creating opportunities to strengthen relationships and connect families with broader support when needed.

Why fresh food?

When budgets are tight, fresh fruit and vegetables are often the first things to go.

The One Box provides quality produce that’s freshly purchased, not rescued, so it lasts the week. Families receive the same food anyone would choose for themselves. That’s about dignity as much as nutrition: healthy meals at home, full lunchboxes and the nutrients children need to grow, concentrate and learn.

Many schools already run breakfast and lunch programs. The One Box complements this work by supporting what happens at home, so children and families can eat well beyond the school gate.

Accessing The One Box

The One Box partners with schools and community organisations rather than providing boxes directly to individual households.

If your school is interested in joining The Schools Program, we’d like to hear from you. Availability depends on funding and delivery capacity in your area. Where immediate support isn’t available, eligible schools may be considered for future program opportunities.

Important information for families

If you’re an individual or family looking for food support, The One Box is not able to accept direct applications. Families participating in The Schools Program are identified and supported through participating schools.
